Richmond Council

Richmond Council

Richmond Council

Richmond Council has pioneered the use of Restorative Approaches in schools as part of Lifelong Learning Programme through the British Council. The initiative has proved instrumental in transforming behaviour, teaching, learning, and improving attendance and staff morale in schools throughout the borough.

The brief:

Richmond Council wanted to make a DVD to show restorative approaches in action, which would be part of a training programme and would highlight the spectrum of its success.  The aim of the DVD was to provide another medium for learning for an established restorative approaches training programme. It needed to demonstrate the following to training participants:

  • How restorative approaches work in practice
  • The different ways restorative approaches can be used – one to one, groups etc.
  • The benefits

The audience would be training participants from schools and from other sectors such as care homes, youth workers and school police officers.

The Approach:

We approached this project by illustrating the restorative approach in action using real school children to re-enact real life stories and issues. By involving the school, and inviting staff and pupils to personally contribute to the film, they became stakeholders in the process and were fully behind the approach.

With its UK headquarters based in Canary Wharf, London, Morgan Stanley is one of the pre-eminent financial services firms, with longstanding client relationships and a leading role in many landmark transactions.

The brief:

Morgan Stanley was looking to make an informative training and safety video to communicate their Fire and Emergency Evacuation procedures to staff.

The Approach:

The safety video used a series of real life scenarios to illustrate what should happen in the case of an emergency. The film takes the viewer from the point of discovering a fire to being evacuated safely. The films also feature all the precautionary measures in the office (sprinklers, smoke detectors and fire retardant materials) to reassure staff that they can work safely.

Groupcall

Groupcall supplies applications, communications and software to the Education, Public Sector and Business sectors.

The Brief:

Groupcall were looking to develop a crisis training film to show how their product Emerge can help schools facilitate speedy and effective school evacuations in the event of fire. The training film was to provide easy-to-follow guidance to schools on the immediate practical steps to follow in an emergency and be distributed on DVD to secondary schools nationwide.

The Approach:

Tallboy created a realistic scenario by filming in an actual secondary school, involving pupils and staff to give the film authenticity. We worked closely with the local emergency services to demonstrate the steps to be taken when in an emergency situation to ensure all school pupils and staff can be evacuated safely.
