Cooking up Christmas Cheer for Age UK – Why we made a video for a Charity rather than sending out Christmas cards

Nothing makes us happier at Tallboy than making our clients smile. So for this Christmas, rather than send out festive cards, we decided to make one of our favourite organisations really grin!

Having worked with Age UK Richmond earlier this year and seen what fantastic work they do to help people ‘love later life’, we offered our time to make them a Christmas greetings video for their website.

Caroline invited us to the Man with a Pan cooking class – a group of delightful men who meet every Monday in Barnes to learn how to cook. And so our crew pitched up to film the class with the subject of mince pies.

When you film with people, you get used to the different characters – the extrovert who wants to be in every shot, the shy one, who turns their face every time the camera is switched on, and the natural, who should really be in showbiz.

These men were all naturals. They were funny, cooperative, patient with the filming process and thought the whole thing was a ‘right laugh’. And so did we. What a shoot – with the added bonus of being able to eat the results. Thanks guys – the mince pies were fabulous.

Age UK Richmond reminds us that the majority of us will face old age. And if we can face it like these great men, with the help of the volunteers at Age UK, then we can’t wait.

Happy Christmas and  have a great new year.
