When Chelsea played Barcelona last month, it’s a safe bet that manager Roberto Di Matteo had studied the opposition and knew their strengths and weaknesses. It pays to know how your rivals work. And so I was really looking forward to the opportunity to see some of the very best work from this industry over the last 12 months at a screening of the winning films of the recent IVCA Awards.  Held in Soho,it was also an opportunity to meet the producers. I wanted to check latest trends and styles of video production as well as benchmark my own company against the competition.

ITV HD blunder!

ITV has not helped the High Definition cause by missing England’s opening goal in the World Cup match against USA. I have been promoting HD as the future of television and video, and as I was watching the match on the ITV1 HD channel, suddenly a commercial appeared! The mistake was only 20 seconds long (seemed like a lifetime) in which Gerrard scored! I could not believe it! I shouted and swore at the TV and then switched channels to watch the rest of the match in Standard Definition. The timing of this mistake was unbelievable.

Interactive online magazines

Tallboy is always looking to find new ways to deliver video and we think we’ve found an excellent solution in the form of an online magazine!

Until recently, ‘online magazine’ meant one of two things. It was either a straightforward PDF with pages that turned. Or it was a flash creation with videos, music and lots of things to click. Extremely impressive, but extremely expensive!
